Hi grant,
Besides the fact that ITS will be phased out in the
upcoming SAP release, the easiest way to get the data from the ext. db into SAP
would be by running abap from sap, and set up dbconn in SAP to connect to
external DB (ODBC).
Works very easy and reliable.
There are several Oss notes available in SAP's
sapnet.com on how to do this.
Greetings
Rene

Subject: SAP DB Uses
Hi everyone, I am an Information Sciences and Technology student at Penn
State University. For one of my classes I am working on a project for the US
Army and Marine Corps that will be sending light armored vehicle (a small tank
that has a driver, gunner and room for 6 marines) data from a database into
SAP using some middleware. We were advised to investigate ITS to do this, but
we feel as if this is not the middleware we want. Would SAP DB be an
appropriate API to do this (move data from an ODBC database into SAP)? Also,
could this be done online using Web DBM. I am very new and inexperienced with
SAP, so any information that you could provide would be much
appreciated.
Thanks!
-Grant
