We've found out that the problems came from VIEWdefinitions.

=> Our conclusion:

1. The output of the errormessage could be improved (this is possibly a
difficult task and we do not expect that a change will be done [soon]).

2. Thus it's important to always consider viewdefinitions when ALTERing
baseTABLEs: the errormessage could be misleading.
