Ok first of all, before I get in trouble: I don't work for SAP, I just 
figure I should help out when I know the answer, since the SAP people have 
helped me quite a bit when -I- didn't know how to do something.  I work 
for a different (somewhat larger) company.  (But I don't represent them 
either on this list.)

I myself have not tried this, since my 7.3 installs work fine, and I am a 
bit scared to disrupt them with a needless upgrade.  Given the directory 
structure though, it should be possible to have both on one machine, if 
you use different paths for the two installs.

Of course you can easily put more than one database on one instance of 
SAPDB.
