Hi Dominique,

unfortunately there is no documentation for the XPath based XML indexing yet. Anyway,
not even the feature is delivered yet. Nevertheless the source distribution may
contain sources of the XML Indexing. But these are not in working order. No use to try
to make them run.

There will be a XML Indexing available within the near future (March/April???). It is
based on our WebDAV implementation. Any XML Document posted to the WebDAV store can be
indexed depending on the document class the document belongs to. A document class will
consist of one or more XML Indexes that are XPath expressions. The index values are
stored as WebDAV properties for the indexed document.

There will be synchronous indexation that takes place when a document is posted to the
WebDAV store using the PUT request with special headers. And there will be
asynchronous indexation that works its way through the stored XML documents and
extracts the index values.

There will be a HTML based GUI for creating metadata (document classes, XML indexes,
etc.).

We will announce the feature as soon as it is available. Documenattion will be
provided then to.

Cheers,
Daniel

Subject: SapDB Document Server ?

        Hello,

While browsing the 7.4 documentation I noted several references to a
"specialized" versions of the database instances. I was particularly
interested by references to an XML repository allowing the creation of
indexes based on XPath expressions. Is their any documentation available
on how to use this ? Is it possible to find information on it by reading
parts of the source package ? If not, may somebody be kind enough to
introduce me with those new features ?

        Thanks in advance!
        Dom
