I had the same problem under AIX and someone on this group helped out.

Take a look at the file /usr/spool/sql/ini/SAP_DBTech.ini  At least, that
is the name under AIX.  You can search for the ini file under Linux if
you don't have this path.

I usually just delete the entire directory /usr/spool/sql when I want to
do a reinstall
