So far I have only found anouncements that full text search modules will be made available under the GPL or GLL. Are there any more recent news on this topic? I'm looking for a full text search module to search in text-columns as well as in blobs (*.doc, *.pdf, *.xls...)
i don't think, that any full-text search has support for PDF, PS or any microsoft-formats.
it's still a good idea to make a full-text search avaiable, but it doesn't have to be a database-modul, although that would make things easier.
if there are people interested, i might start an opensource-project at SourceForge that implements an easy to use full-text-search that can index varchar/long fields and such.
it won't be a database-modul but a java-library .
anybody interested?
