I'm not totally sure about this issue. I suspect that the problem is caused by lacking Unicode support of Win98/Me. At least this is the main difference between the setup-dll of 7.3 and 7.4. The workaround of using the sqlsp32.dll of the 7.3 package should work as long as there are no Unicode characters in the DSN definition.
