Has anyone migrated from one to the other ?
i've tried firebird 1.02 yesterday.
i wanted to try 1.50beta3, but the gds.dll was not kompatible with any client.
One of the things I like about IB/FB is that it's a 3.5 MB download and gives you all the
functionality of a "proper" db (unlike MySQL), but with very low overhead and administration!
while creating my first firebird-db, i felt like creating an access-db without a front-end. firebird seems to be anything else than an enterprise db.
The SAPDB download page (as with the whole project)
is very impressive, as is the amount of resources that SAP are continuing to put into SAPDB,
but I'm just concerned that there may be a massive
overhead with using SAPDB compared with Interbase
which I am using for a project on a Windows server
for me, installing SAPDB was an easy thing. even updating is very easy (well, if it works :-) ). SAPDB's kernel consumes a lot of resources, but you can also configure it to use less.
i cannot make any feature comparison, but i guess i would have been disappointed, if i'd spent any money on buying interbase.
