Subject: Still no answers, either from SAP support!!!!Hi all
The 13th of March I have asked the following question:
Why am I unable to create a SAPDB database on a SUSE 8.1 machine with the parameter configuration below.
When I changed the LOG_MODE in SINGLE and deleted the parameter param_addvolume 1 MLOG , I could install the database.
My logfile ../indep_data/wrk/SAP743A/DIAGHISTORY/SAP743A_20030313_10-45-10/knldiag says:
2003-03-13 10:45:07 21494 ERR 11061 init_shm too many volumes !
Till now I didn't receive an answer. That the SAPDB users don't have time or don't have the answers I can understand very well. But why is't SAP Support a little bit more active to answer the question from their users? That will result in more motivated SAPDB administrators, developers and for sure more operators. SAPDB will be grow and grow........
By the way I have an other question:
What exactly is the meaning of DEPEND, INDEP_PROG, INDEP_DATA.
And when I would install more SAPD versions on the same box, would that look like:
.../SAPDB/depend/7.3.0
| |
| /7.4.3
|
/indep_data
|
/indep_prog
I really hope SAP support will give me this time answers on my question, so that I can apply SAPDB better and more efficiently.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Edo

Answer
to your first question:
I hope
you don't compare this mailing list with SAP support !
The
log mode dual is available in 7.4 since 7.4.3 build 5.
There
you have to set the parameter _LOG_MIRRORED to YES and add the mirror log
volumes
(the LOG_MODE
parameter is not available anymore)
