Subject: Problem with backint interface

I'm running sapdb 7.4.03.14 (kit downloaded from sapdb.org) on RedHat Linux
advanced server 7.1.
I'm trying to use the sapdb backint interface to backup the database - I
have written a shellscript that implements the backint interface. (While
investigating the problem I replaced the shellscript with a C program - same
result).

When I issue the dbmcli 'backup_start' command, I get this error:

DBM-Api error ( -4'received a garbled packet')

and dbmcli terminates.

If I look in knldiag I see the following:

2003-03-24 08:35:48 6081 11561 COMMUNIC Connecting T24 local 13161
2003-03-24 08:35:48 6106 11561 COMMUNIC Connected T24 local 13161
2003-03-24 08:36:05 6080 WNG 11840 COMMUNIC Killing T24 for died apid 13161
2003-03-24 08:36:05 6106 WNG 11804 COMMUNIC application dead for T24
2003-03-24 08:36:05 6106 WNG 11824 COMMUNIC Releasing T24 connection
aborted

As far as I can tell my script is not being invoked at all - the first thing
it does is to write a 'hello' message to a file, and that is not happening.

Any ideas how I can investigate the problem further?

Thanks

David Lane
