Hi Stefan, we are using the SAPDB in our SAP environment since the first day. We got it pretty running in all SAP releases since 4.0 up to enterprise 4.7/6.20 in 19 installation, 7 days 24 hours. What can be wrong with this database?

Of course, SAP DB was criticized very hard. We, a collegue of mine and myself wrote e-mails to ct to controvert to their article. We declared that we have totally other experiences with SAP DB as they told in their article (we are running successfully more than 80 Installations on SAP DB 7.3 in a SAP environment for years now). But all we got was an automatic generated answer, and the statement, that they had not enough time to look on SAP DB in detail. They just wanted the compare those "open source databases" on a simple level, not in detail. I offered ct to write an article about "using SAP DB in a productive environment" or something tlike that. My personal opinion about this article was: "They don't have a real understandment how to use DATABASES in a productive environment. But I still got no response from ct. My experience: SAP DB works very find - even or especially in productive, high avaliability and 7x24 hours environments. Are there any statement from the developer about that? I searching a open source database I can easy use in production environment. I don't want to pay 60.000 euros support. Actually my alternative to sapdb is firebird, any comments from users why I sould use sap db instead of firebird. (I want run jboss on a linux box as application layer) Thanks for any hints!
