We do this in online mode, no cold, no warm. The database is running. We have turned AUTOLOG on and we would expect that a restore would be done be a restore of the DATA-backup and replaying the logs from the point of backup-time.
The DATA-backups and the AUTOLOG-Backups are saved via ADSM.

The issue that I am dealing with is that when I perform a restore the data may not be consistent. That is to say that there could be transactions in the logs that have not been committed. When I first perormed a log restore the database broke and I had to rebuild it. Due to my own ignorance (and possibly laziness) I scrapped trying to restore logs and just restored data becuase at the time I didn't exactly understand the functions or importance of logs. Is there a standard way to backup and restore a database? Are there different ways to skin a cat? I would appreciate any incite someon could provide. At the end of the message I have included the shell scripts that I use for backups. Feel free to critique.
