Thanks for your reply. I will definitely look into Firebird, but I will also be keeping my fingers crossed on SAPDB as I have already invested a lot of time working through it's documentation. If SAPDB plans on sticking around and does not change in a negative way, then I will probably stick to it. I guess the beauty of open source is that there are (usually) always alternatives.
