I wonder... Why You can't tell the connection is dead? Maybe You should try some smaller values on ADOBB.Connection.Timeout?? It works perfect on my side - whenever I stop my db-server (7.3.0.34) I get the error stating that "connection released.."... Of course You can (and I think - should) always test Your connection with the .State property of ADODB.Connection. If You could provide us with an example of Your code, it would be easier to provide you with some hint. Best Regards,
