We're running version 7.3 on Sun Solaris and we've pushed sapdb to 700 queries per second (insert/update/delete) -- our biggest wait seems to be on waits for logwriter. We've spread our logfiles onto 2 disks with 512mb of cache 15k rpm. The data is on 3 separate disks (not with the logs).
Is there anything else we can do to help decrease the waits? We're trying to increase the queries per second to 2k. Any suggestions are appreciated! We're extremely new to this product.
Here's some info on the log area: log mode - single max size 134376 used size 22008 not saved 21568 log since last data backup 437352 savepoints 68 checkpoints 10 physical reads 2606 physical writes 272800 queue size 600 queue overflows 0 group commits 177814 waits for logwriter 794658 max waits 52 average waits 6
info on the caches: data 100% hit rate converter 100% hit rate catalog 80% hit rate
The params changed are: data cache 80k maxcpu 14 max_locks 1,000,000 maxusertasks 400 _maxevents 200 cat_cache_supply 38464 log_io_queue 75 request_timeout 30 rollback_timeout 32 session timeout 300
Thanks for all your help! Sue Hubbard
