Let's start with a generic question: Is there a short list of the significant changes in a new version? I don't want the detailed list of every bug and its resolution.
I only know the change-log which is published somewhere at www.sapdb.org, i think.
i know, that there have been some changes to the SQL-langauge, but it's worth upgrading.
Specifically, we are developing under 7.4.3.17 with RedHat 7.3. Is there any reason that I might want to propose upgrading the development box to 7.4.3.25 and do new installs with 7.4.3.25?
You might want to have a development box running any Kernel-Version you like! As you can install many kernel-version at once running with the same x_server, you can select the kenerl-version per database.
You could develop new application using 7.4 and keeping 7.3 for older apps, that have problems 7.4 (which can be due to some changes in the SQL-language)
I would always install the latest 7.3 build and the latest 7.4 build.
I migrated all my apps to 7.4 some time ago, and so i deinstalled the 7.3 kernel.
Our application is written in Java and we are using JDBC. What other information do you need to answer my questions?
The worste change i remeber is to remove the JOIN USING syntax, but that's easy to find, so there's no real excuse to migrate to latest 7.3 or even to 7.4.
