Hello,
Recently, I have backed up database which
was:
- SAPDB 7.4 unicode one
- working on Win2000 Prof (EN) with
Polish locales
- the app working with the db instance
was connecting via OLEDB driver for ODBC and corresponding SAPDB ODBC
driver
After complete backup of the db and log,
I re-installed the system from scratch and wanted to restore the
database. Here my problems started.
After restoring, I got an error during
restarting the db instance, I looked into error log and found out
two messages:
- RESTART ERROR 3800
- and db backup does not match log
backup
Then I started the instance "manually"
and it works fine with one little odd thing:
- It does not show national characters
correctly which were present in the database before (both in app
and sqlstudio).
Currently, I have my locales set to my
national ones (Polish), OS and DB version is excatly the same as
before.
Would you be so kind to give me a hint what
went wrong? and where is my
mistake:
- wrong sequence during restoring
- I missed some locale settings which make the
national characters look strange
Please give me a hint.
