I think this was already answered by Tilo :-).

I must answer this because maybe some of the backup tool vendors are
also reading here:

There are two products on the market which work with SAP DB / MaxDB in
the best way. These are ADSM / Tivoli (IBM) and Legato's NETWORKER. Both
of them can handle the pipes from SAP DB / MaxDB directly and therefore
you don't need the adapter programs from backint for Oracle etc.

I know that HP promised the same abilities to handle pipes for OMNIBACK
for a very long time now, but as far as know, it's still not
implemented. They promise all the time.

But this pipe solutions is really nice and fast and easy to implement,
much easier than Backint !! But if the vendors don't offer this nice
solution the only way to use your backup tool is to implement the
backint for Oracle.

Directly speaking with Backint for Oracle we implemented a solution
which is a great step backwards (comparable with "not using pipes in
Unix" - I know, you can't imagine this) and storing the things normally
running though the pipe back to disk and transfer it from there to
Backint for Oracle. Backint for Oracle only can handle/save files :-(((.
