Hello

It sounds too simple: I'm trying to copy a
database instance TST running on server AA
to server BB.
Both SAP DBs are 7.4.3, running under Win2K.

I get these errors after executing the steps below

Front-end error:
  -24895  shutdown of database occured [db_warm -f];
  -71,connection broken

Knldiag error:
  DBIdentifier of DataVolume (AA:TST_2003xxxx) and
    LogVolume (BB:TST_2003xxxx) does not match
  RestartArchiveLog: LogAndDataIncompatible
RestartError '3800' => SHUTDOWN IS FORCED

1. Start DBMGUI on server AA.
2. Choose database instance
3. Backup - Complete Data - to FILE "x:\complete_bkp"
(x: is a shared disk drive)
4. Switch to DBMGUI on server BB.
5. Instance - Install - TST - on local server
   - with same DBM and DBA username/passwords
   - restore parameters from a backup medium
     (choose the x:\complete_bkp file)
   - "The database instance was created successfully.
If required, adjust the parameters now."
   - Keep parameters and volumes as they are
   - Install and start instance
   - Register database instance as TST
6. Switch instance TST on server BB to "admin mode".
7. Recovery - Database - Restore a medium - Next step
   - "x:\complete_bkp" - Start
   - "If you restart the database now, it will be
     completely restored" - Restart

How can the error be circumvented? Is the solution
beyond the abilities of DBMGUI?

Are there easier ways to copy TST from AA to BB?
How do they work?

Christian
