The #1 issue that gives people troubling with installing Satchmo is understanding the python environment and how to appropriately set the paths in it to point to all the dependencies as well as Satchmo.
The #2 issue is understanding the basics of how Django works including the settings files and templates. If you can navigate through those 2 you shouldn't have any issue getting Satchmo up and running.
