I recently installed satchmo on my test system following the instructions at:
http://satchmoproject.com/docs/svn/new_installation.html While it took a bit to get the dependencies to work, for the most part, everything was current. Make sure you are doing step five, which customizes the settings.py file ... which may be why you are getting the errors.
