I worked out something that seemed to solve the problem shortly after
posting here and have just read this response - thanks Chris!
What I did was...
export PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages:/home/gjeos/
projects
sudo usermod -a -G www-data gjeos
nano settings.py
DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE = 'mysite.settings'
ROOT_URLCONF = 'mysite.urls'
nano urls.py
urlpatterns += patterns(...)
[forgot to add the plus (i.e. "+") sign]
python manage.py syncdb
...then deleted contents of the django_cache folder (which solved my
cache not responding errors (using file-based cache)), and so far
things seem OK (though I am still having problem importing/exporting
inventory which have images and other issues).
