As you may know, I've been working on a gigantic fork of Satchmo. At DjangoCon, Chris and I decided that some elements of Satchmo are so useful that they should be separate projects, usable outside of Satchmo itself. Daringly, we decided that the payment system was an obvious first candidate for splitting out. I took the challenge, starting the development of "Bursar", which is the new payment system for Satchmo.
I'm moving along very well now on the project. I have authorizenet, autosuccess, cod, dummy, purchaseorder, and paypal processors completely converted and working with a forked Satchmo. I've set up a new list for Bursar, http://groups.google.com/group/bursar-users Please sign up if you want to participate in the creation of Bursar. This is *very exciting* to me. Splitting the payment system is just the first step in making Satchmo more usable for more people. I look forward to making this system as usable as possible for as many projects as possible. My aim is to make Django and Satchmo able to accept just about any form of payment with a minimum of fuss. I think I'm on the right track. Unlike Satchmo, Bursar requires no external libraries at all. I'm going to try very hard to stick to that level of integration ease. If you are interested in contributing to the project, please contact me and I'll get you a copy of the forked Satchmo I'm using. Other candidates for splitting-out are the cart, the "livesettings" system, and the caching mechanism. These will be much smaller and easier to do, of course. Payment is the big nut to crack, and I'm 90% done. In fact, if you use one of the processors above, it is working already. Actually it is working better than Satchmo 0.9, with more tests, and more control over payment processing. -- Bruce Kroeze http://www.ecomsmith.com It's time to hammer your site into shape. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Satchmo users" group.
