I have successfully deployed satchmo to webfaction on several occasions.

The easiest, most naive thing to do is get satchmo running on your localhost
without installing any packages.

Instead of installing them (via easy_install/setuptools/etc) just copy the
packages into satchmo's app path (so they're be in the python path).

Once you have it running this way on your localhost, getting it running on
webfaction is just a matter of copy/paste , and then updating the
local_settings.py on the server to access their database.
