I have memcached listed in my settings file as such: CACHE_BACKEND = "memcached://127.0.0.1:11211/"
Then I'm able to go into admin, and click on the link (lower right underneath the settings area) and click on Cache Status and verify that its running and getting hits. What is it that is giving you an issue?
