Just a random off-the-cuff thought, but have you looked at creating a URL
pattern that would match products, pass it to a custom view, return a
response template if it matches a list of specified SKUs, else, return the
default Satchmo response if it doesn't?

That seems like it would work without having to modify Satchmo in any way.
