They should be. In the demo store, django-rocks-shirts can have a separate
sku for each color size combination.

Try looking at the product variation manager (/admin/variations) and you
should see the list of all products as well as their sku.

I would recommend first trying it with the demo store data and verify you
can see what you expect. Once you get that working, you can add your own
product.
