No, a CI server would not speed up development, but would ensure that commits didn't break the build.
I've played around with Jenkins a bit in other Django projects. Looks like CloudBees has a hosted option and a free tier. http://www.cloudbees.com/jenkins-enterprise-by-cloudbees-overview.cb Of course a CI server isn't much good unless there's solid test coverage. How do the devs feel about Satchmo's test suite?
