I've been thinking about this as well.

I have a media pc that vastly outstrips any other computer in the
house in pretty much every respect (by virtue of being 3+ years
newer), but it generally drives the tv, and isn't in an ideal location
for doing things like software development (and some games would be
better with an actual desk). I'd like to set up a second terminal in
my office (~30ft away from the tv), with essentially full hardware
acceleration / peripheral capabilities at both locations. At one
point I may have been able to do the calculations to determine if it's
physically possible to have cables that long and still have low enough
latency to actually make this feasible, but those days are long
past...

Does anyone have ideas / suggestions? It seems like a waste to have
two computers when I really only need one...

Finding a way to get my laptop to sync with everything in the
background when I'm in range of my wireless AP would also be very cool
:)
