Hi, is there any reason why the savane.pot file is sorted alphabetically instead of the normal sorting (based on appearance of msgids in the source)?
The normal sorting would make it much easier for the translators, because
there are several msgids which are actually continuations of previous
msgids. If those are sorted alphabetically, it's harder to keep a
translation consistent within itself. Take this example:
#: ../frontend/php/account/index.php:219
msgid "Edit Resume and Skills"
msgstr ""
#: ../frontend/php/account/index.php:220
msgid ""
"Details about your experience and skills may be of interest to others "
"users or visitors."
msgstr ""
This sorting is the default; successive entries are grouped together. In the
alphabetically sorting the second entry would appear first in the .pot
file. It may well be possible that a translator would translate the word
"Skills" in the first entry different from the second entry, if he/she does
not see the connection.
However, in the webinterface those entries always appear together. It's
highly confusing for users if there are two different words for the same
thing.
If noone objects, I would sent out a warning note to translators, so that
they can check in their latest updates, before regenerating the .pot
and .po files with the default sorting.
Cheers,
