Sure, but the misconfiguration is likely to be have been set with a previous
version.
Indeed, we could do checks on the setup to see whether what the user is
asking is sensible. But the configurability level is quite high and I'm
afraid this would be quite hard to maintain.
On the other hand, you can surely look in the database if you have users with
order=digest as browsing items prefs, and remove such entries, if any.

I think that's a bug. Maybe we should think about what it implies but I guess
it would really make sense to mention such changes.
I cannot think of a case where we would like a mail notification that does
not mention all changes. And open/close change is surely not a trivial one.
