Read the developers documentation, especially CODING_STYLE, CVS_USAGE and CONTRIBUTING <http://cvs.gna.org/viewcvs/savane/savane/doc/devel/> 2. Install Savane on a computer you run for testing purpose. Report bugs you found on the Savane bug tracker. Working on portability and documentation is indeed something that should be done, as Savane is only tested on RedHat systems and Debian GNU/Linux. The documentation should be probably rewritten from scratch completely.
