/**************************************************************************/ [task #175] Latest Modifications: Changes by: Mathieu Roy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 'Date: sam 26.06.2004 à 11:49 (Europe/Paris) What | Removed | Added --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Should Start On | jeu 12.02.2004 à 01:00 | jeu 12.02.2004 à 00:00 Should be Finished on | dim 12.02.2006 à 01:00 | dim 12.02.2006 à 00:00 ------------------ Additional Follow-up Comments ---------------------------- Hum, in fact I am not personally considering replacing INSTALL and INSTALL.verbose. This documentation does its job and have been improved by different persons according to their installation experience. Sure, it can still be improved but removing it or moving it does not seems necessary right now. The problem is the lack of general documentation: the documentation inside specific directories is fine to explain how making something specific working. But there is no overview, explaining concepts in general, that's the issue. Such documentation should be split in two part: one for the savane administrators, the others for the users. I like LaTeX and I'm not very confident with texinfo, however texinfo seems better to create html documentation for software. Would you be ok with texinfo? Otherwise, indeed, using LaTeX is not a problem. /**************************************************************************/ [task #175] Full Item Snapshot: URL: <http://gna.org/task/?func=detailitem&item_id=175> Project: Savane Submitted by: Mathieu Roy On: ven 13.02.2004 à 19:15 Should Start On: jeu 12.02.2004 à 00:00 Should be Finished on: dim 12.02.2006 à 00:00 Category: Packaging Priority: 1 - Later Resolution: None Assigned to: None Percent Complete: 0% Status: Open Effort: 0.00 Planned Release: Summary: real documentation Original Submission: A real documentation from Savane, site admin oriented, non-site-specific should be written.. probably from scratch. Maybe still in texinfo, but I do not find that format so wonderfull... We could move all the documentation to the /doc directory, and INSTALL should then point to that dir, imo, while INSTALL.verbose would have to be rewritten... I noticed that some of the (scarce) informations about installation are redundant.
