Whoever edited /etc/mysql/my.cnf *please* use emacs when doing so.
It will create numbered backups that allow us to quickly figure out what
changes were made.
Although I thought my careless installation of sf_backup was the
source of the /cvsroot permission change problem, I very much suspect that
one of the cron jobs which failed because of this global misconfiguration
is guilty of charge. In theory I should probably check each of them to
pinpoint the problem (we don't want this to happen again for a mere
mysql client configuration problem).
