Follow-up Comment #2, task #7920 (project administration): Zeus --
Perhaps I need to be more explicit. My name is Joshua Ginsberg, Senior Systems Administrator for the Free Software Foundation, aka j00bar, jag. I'm filing this on behalf of Richard Stallman. In August of 2007, RMS sent to the FSF/GNU sysadmins: ====BEGIN==== Subject: emacs-pretest-bugs Date: Sun, 12 Aug 2007 20:52:08 -0400 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: Richard Stallman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Can you please turn emacs-pretest-bugs into an alias for emacs-devel? Please don't throw away the current definition of emacs-pretest-bugs. Please keep it in case we decide, in a few weeks to change it back. Please ack when done. ====END==== I handled this request and responded: ====BEGIN==== Subject: emacs-pretest-bugs Date: Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:45:43 -0400 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This has all been completed. I concluded you meant emacs-pretest-bug, not emacs-pretest-bugs (the latter does not exist). The mailing list configuration has been archived, the archives are still available, and the forwarding is done as an alias on fencepost. -jag ====END==== In the recent days, RMS has requested: ====BEGIN==== Subject: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: No such list emacs-pretest-bug] Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2008 15:55:40 -0400 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: Richard Stallman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Please arrange for this page to give the right information (that emacs-pretest-bug has been forwarded). I reported this in February, I believe. ------- Start of forwarded message ------- Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2008 13:22:57 +0200 From: "Lennart Borgman (gmail)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Emacs Devel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Subject: No such list emacs-pretest-bug If you click on the header link (the one with a mail picture to the left of it) for emacs-pretest-bug on http://savannah.gnu.org/mail/?group_id=40 then you will get a page http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emacs-pretest-bug saying "No such list emacs-pretest-bug". The archive link works, but the list information page gives the same error as above. I just saw this because I asked a user to join emacs-pretest-bug. ------- End of forwarded message ------- ====END==== So I'm now writing you to ask you to please remove that list from that webpage. If you'd like, I can have RMS write you himself. If you'd like, I can shell into Savannah and try to figure out how to delete it myself. I thought I'd try the path of least resistance and simply ask you nicely to remove the list from that particular page. As I expressed on IRC, I think both RMS and the entire sysadmin staff were unaware that Savannah cataloged mailing lists and maintained links to them like this, and we've been deleting mailing lists from lists.gnu.org for years now in response to administrator requests. We will in the future refer them to the support interface for Savannah so they can be removed from Savannah as well as from lists.gnu.org Thank you for your assistance in this matter. -jag _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/task/?7920> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
