Follow-up Comment #4, sr #104923 (project administration):
Short answer: yes.
More details:
I guess destroy/create is the kind of quick fix we need. Not that the problem
might not be GPG related, it might also be the --listing option which
complicates stuff.
This is why: signing the archive only replaces the way checksum files are
generated, so fundamentally it shouldn't make any difference on the server.
On the other side, --listing causes generation of .listing files, which do
not exist without the option. And (stop me if I'm wrong) I bet the ssh access
provided for the arch depot is not a "standard" ssh and that there are plenty
of restrictions, some of which might interfere with this .listing story.
Another thing that makes me think that way is that the "read-only archive"
thingy might be related to the existence of .listing files. Usually .listing
is needed for read-only archives. When you have webdav or sftp you do not
need it: simply call "ls". But well, these are just ideas.
Short term solution: destroy the 5 depots, re-create them with default
options, and forget my capricious needs 8-)
Long term solution: I'm ready to help (if I can) on testing the GNU Arch
service on Savannah. I think it's interesting in the long run to provide both
--signing and --listing, but there's no hurry. Feel free to contact me.
Have a nice day, and thanks for your help,
Christian.
