I've found out how to delete remote branches:
git push ${[email protected]:/srv/git/${project}.git
:heads/${branch2delete}
deleting the remote *master* however seems to have screwed up the
repository.
warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout.
