Unfortunately this was posted anonymously so probably you won't see this
explanation. But maybe you will check back...
The problem is that the system has been getting overwhelmed with either The
Large Stupid Botnet or with the many AI Crawlers. The AI Crawlers are
currently the big problem. They are hammering away at all systems everywhere
on the Internet. It's a global problem. It's why we can't have nice things.
And at this moment in order to shed load I have at least temporarily disabled
cgit which is what the AI crawlers are attacking. This should at least shed
load such that normal git fetch operations will succeed.
