My experience with java is limited, but from what I can see netbeans packages
depend on Sun's JRE which is in category `non-free' in Debian.
Do you use Sun's JRE or a free replacement like GNU classpath?

It didn't work for me (got NullPointerException). Is netbeans also a runtime
dependency?
