Jonathan is not reachable at the moment, so I took over this project review.
Jonathan was refering to the usage of the GFDL at Savannah when it comes to
manuals. In this case this is not exactly a manual so the GPL will be ok. This
is a Savannah policy question, it has nothing to do with the applicability of
the GNU GPL to hardware designs :)
Just a thing: I noticed that you use the Affero GPL 3 (not the "classic" GPL
3) in your license notices, but you ship the "classic" GPL 3 in the 'COPYING'
file. Can you clarify your intent?
