Great news! The original author of XSC has relicensed his code under the GPLv2+ (from gplv2-only) http://www.panix.com/~mbh/xsc/xsc-1.6.tar.gz Also, I have introduced a build dependency on SDL and SDL_mixer for sounds. The sounds are mostly licensed under CC by-sa 3.0 unported. The licensing details are in sounds/README.
