I thikn that should work. But we have had security changes with
regards to sftp, scp, rsync, and ssh upstream has changed internals
and honestly I don't remember the current state of things. Please try
this alternative instead.
rsync -tv est [email protected]:/releases/gwaves/

Yes. It is on a different system. But it also uses ssh. But that
means your ssh keys are okay.
