Is it just me or is the ³Cloud² mostly hype and not ready for prime time? I am sorry, but most small to mid sized businesses that I work with find it unnecessary and more costly in the long run than the traditional in house methods we have all supported for years.
I personally have found Office 365 to be problematic and quite the hassle in many ways. An example of this is that a customer of mine purchased the Office 365 for Business Open License and it was supposed to work with a terminal environment. We installed a new Windows 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Server and then tried to install Office 365 on it and it will not install. We opened a case with Microsoft only to discover that currently there is a bug that prevents this from working. Their solution? Install Office 2010 on the server using another customers open license install code. WOW! The ³cloud² is awesome for some things like residential users backing up their personal documents, photos etcŠ Also for some giant corporations with vast amounts of bandwidth and $$$ it may also make sense. Microsoft is really missing the boat here, people still need local support and if we all jump ship what will they do? I do hope someday they come down from their ³cloud² and realize that we provide a large service for the products whether they like it or not. ------------------------------------------------------------------ We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors but they all have to learn to live in the same box.
