Limit connection rate to harbor sources ---------------------------------------
Key: LS-505 URL: http://dev.sourcefabric.org/browse/LS-505 Project: Liquidsoap Issue Type: New Feature Components: Liquidsoap Affects Versions: 1.0 Environment: any Reporter: Romeo It will be very usefull to have a feature that limits connection rate to harbor mount points in order to prevent broadcasting via poor quality internet connections. For example, we have 2 harbor mount points on radiovkontakte.ru - playlist.ogg and live.ogg. They are connected by switch operator and live has greater priority. But when there's a live broadcast from a club via ADSL, 4G (Moblie WiMAX) or any other asynchronous connection it's sometimes not enough bandwidth to feed a harbor source. This results in a constant live client reconnection and switching between live/playlist. This process is very annoying for listeners and makes them go away from our station. The live shows cannot be controlled for the quality every time they starts ( as we have about 3 per day ) and even if we have noticed that a DJ has a poor bandwidth it's not always possible to bring the live show down. It will be great to have a control over a connection rate parameter per IP or per client basis (or just a limit at first) like iptables have. Say I put connection limit of 2 times per minute and when it comes over that rate, the mount point becomes locked for a certain period of time for that IP or client (e.g. 2 hours - an average time of the live mix). This will prevent poor quality shows from going live. We use an iptables limit at the moment but it doesn't have enough flexibility for our purposses. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://dev.sourcefabric.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Xperia(TM) PLAY It's a major breakthrough.
