Hi !
The code for external encoders has been entierly rewriten in the current
SVN.
I do not claim that it is bug-free, but at least this ticket is irrelevant
now. I have also tested restart here, which seems to work.
Please reopen/resubmit if you still have trouble with the SVN code..
