Ha ok, now I see what can be the trouble :)

We use such a paradigm on radiopi: the on_track triggers a script that tells 
to the underlying system that this song is being played. This couldn't be 
assumed only after outputing the song in the get_next call: there are 
downloads, tests, and ultimately a remaining song which is being played.
