We didn't really change a lot of things i smart_crossfade before the release.

Well, it's a bit complicated, so I could let david explain, or point to the
relevant documentation. In the mean time, I can recommence to put the mksafe
after the smart_crossfade. Mksafe might create unecessary end and begining of
tracks and confuse the smart_crossfade.
Also, I read in the log that you still have those broken mp3 files for which
we had to fix ocaml-mad. My guess is that perhaps they might generate
latency, for which the smart_crossfade is confused too
