Yes, that is the current behaviour: liquidsoap caches some songs to make sure
it alw ays have something available to stream in the future..

There is no real solution for now. you can play with the parameters in order
to reduce the cache length.
There is a ticket dedicated to this:

David agreed recently that we whould review this. However, it is not an easy
change, so it might take some time to do it properly.
In the mean time, you can give a try to the patch attached to the above
ticket. It should work, though it has not been tested intensively..
