Re: the royalty fees, they are high In most places. A lot of royalty rates outside the US are actually worse.
For head-spinning rates look at the PPL in the UK, who now has a deal to collect these royalties for much of the EU,with co-operation of local entities, based on where your listeners are located. Major labels are international and they have representation in most industrialized countries.
