Another tip: To start playing with filters and effects, you need to play a white noise, generated from any oscillator plugin or audio file. Then measure into a spectrum analyzer software (like spectraplus in M$) to obtain a plane response between 20-15000hz. From that you can customize the filter to your requirements.
